Tax filing is simply telling the government how much you earned last year.

    That’s all.

    The Authority in Anambra

    Your tax is handled by:

👉 Anambra State Internal Revenue Service

Important Terms (Let’s Remove Fear First)

    1. ASIN (Very Important)

ASIN = Anambra State Identification Number

👉 This is your tax ID in Anambra

    Like:

    • school registration number
    • hospital card

    Without it:

    ✓ you cannot file properly

    2. Annual Returns

    This simply means:

👉 report of your income for the year (e.g. 2025)

Let Me Explain With a Simple Story

Mama Ngozi sells tomatoes in Onitsha.

    At the end of 2025:

She goes to the tax office and says:

👉 “This is how much I made last year.”

    That is:

    ✓ tax filing
    ✓ annual return

Oya… Relax Let Me Explain (STEP-BY-STEP)

    STEP 1: Get Your ASIN

    How?

    Go to:

    • Anambra tax office
    OR
    • their official portal (if available)

    What You’ll Provide

    • full name
    • phone number
    • address
    • ID (NIN or others)

    Result

👉 You get your ASIN number

    STEP 2: Know Your Income

Calculate what you earned in 2025:

    • salary
    • business income
    • side hustle

    Example

    Mama Ngozi:

    • total sales profit = ₦800,000

    STEP 3: Deduct Allowances

    Government allows small reliefs.

    This reduces your taxable income.

(If you are a salary earner, many are already deducted)

STEP 4: Fill Your Annual Return

    You can do this:

    • online (if portal is working)
    OR
    • physically at tax office

    What You Fill

    • your ASIN
    • your total income
    • your deductions

    STEP 5: Calculate Tax

    Nigeria uses graduated tax system

    Meaning:

    • small income → small tax
    • higher income → higher tax

    👉 If you are employed:

✓ tax may already be deducted (PAYE)

    STEP 6: Submit Before Deadline

    Important

    Deadline is usually:

    👉 March 31 every year

    (for previous year income)

    STEP 7: Pay (If Necessary)

If tax is not fully paid:

    ✓ you pay balance

    If already deducted:

    ✓ just file and confirm

Let Me Be Honest With You

    Most mistakes happen because people:

    • ignore tax completely
    • wait till deadline
    • don’t register early

    Common Mistakes to Avoid

    • not getting ASIN
    • guessing income wrongly
    • missing deadline
    • ignoring filing because “no one told me”

What If You Have No Income?

    Very important.

    If you didn’t earn:

✓ you may still file NIL return

    Meaning:

    👉 “I earned nothing”

    Final Truth

Tax is not as hard as it looks.

    It is just:

    ✓ register
    ✓ declare
    ✓ submit

Let Me Leave You With This

    Don’t wait for pressure.

    Start early.

Because once you understand it once…

    Every year becomes easy.

THIS IS JUST TO EXPLAIN SO YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND CLEARLY, I Will give another answer to explain exactly what you are going to do.
