Filing your Personal Income Tax in Osun State is straightforward, whether you prefer using the digital portal or visiting an office in person. Since the standard March 31st deadline has just passed, you should act quickly to remain compliant.

Here is the easiest way to get it done:

    1. Identify Your Tax Category

    • Direct Assessment: Use this if you are self-employed, a trader, or a freelancer. You calculate your own tax based on your annual profit.
    • PAYE: If you are a salary earner, your employer usually deducts this, but you still need to file an “Annual Return” to confirm your total income.

    2. The Online Method (Fastest)

    • Visit the Portal: Go to the Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS) https://irs.os.gov.ng/ website.
    • Get your TIN: If you don’t have a Taxpayer ID, register on the portal using your NIN and personal details.
    • File Returns: Select the “Annual Returns” or “Direct Assessment” form. Input your total income for 2025 and any allowable expenses/reliefs.
    • Pay & Receipt: Pay the assessed amount via the online gateway (Remita/Webpay). Download and print your Automated Revenue Receipt immediately.

    3. The Physical Method (Best for Beginners)
If you find the portal confusing, walk into any OIRS Tax Station (Abere-Osogbo, Ife, Ilesa, or Ede).

    • Tell the officer: “I want to file my Personal Income Tax returns.”
    • They will provide Form A, help you calculate the amount, and guide you to a designated bank for payment.

    Checklist for a Smooth Filing

    • NIN & Phone Number: Essential for registration.
    • Income Summary: Have a rough total of what you earned from January to December last year.
    • Reliefs: Note down your Pension or Life Insurance contributions to reduce your tax.

     Why do it now?
Filing your taxes is the first step toward getting a Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC), which is mandatory in Osun State for government transactions, land titling, and school admissions.

Are you currently running a business in Osun, or are you filing based on your salary?

    Goodluck!
