    Below are some of the qualities of a good stock:

    1. Payment of dividends: This quality is essential, most especially for a beginner. It is imperative to start with blue-chip stocks, they are strong, big, popular and also pay dividends.

    2. Liquidity status: Liquidity is the ability of a stock to be bought and sold quickly and fairly. There are stocks of high liquidity, this entails buying and selling fairly with ease, while there are stocks of low liquidity, this entails the  difficulty in buying fairly, most especially the inability to sell at a good price with ease.

    3. Total debt v Net debt: This shows the financial health of a company.  A company whose net debt is greater than its total debt is at a financial risk.
