Yes. In Nigeria, you can verify the trustee of an investment fund through the fund’s official documents and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Nigeria register.
    How to check
    Find the fund’s name
For example, a money-market fund, mutual fund, fixed-income fund, or equity fund.
Look at the fund’s factsheet or prospectus
The trustee is normally identified alongside the Fund Manager and Custodian.
    Don’t confuse them:
Fund Manager → makes investment decisions.
Trustee → acts on behalf of investors/unit holders and monitors the fund manager.
Custodian → holds the fund’s assets.
SEC describes the trustee’s role as monitoring the fund manager and ensuring the scheme’s assets are held according to the relevant documents.

Verify the trustee on the SEC register
Use the SEC’s official Find a Registered Operator service.
Search the trustee’s name and check that its function includes “Trustees” and that its account status is ACTIVE.

Check that the fund itself is authorised
Don’t only verify the trustee. Also check that the fund manager/operator is registered with SEC and that the fund is an authorised collective investment scheme. SEC identifies unit trusts and other pooled investment arrangements as collective investment schemes.
