How Do I Check the Current Status of My Zenith Bank and GTBank Shares?

Good day, Fokona.

I would like to seek your advice and assistance regarding some shares I purchased in Zenith Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) sometime between 2015 and 2017. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the exact year of purchase.

For some years after the purchase, I was receiving dividends, but I have not received any dividend payments recently. I have also misplaced/lost my shares account number and would like to know how I can retrieve my account details and verify the current status of my shares.

I would also like to know how I can recover any unclaimed dividends that may be outstanding in my name.

Please, Iking Ferry, if you can guide me on the appropriate process or recommend a reliable and legitimate stockbroker, registrar, or financial institution that can assist me in retrieving my shares account and claiming any outstanding dividends, I would sincerely appreciate it.

If anyone on this platform has had a similar experience and can recommend the right person or organization to contact, your guidance would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for sharing this, and thank you all for your assistance.

Ah, my dear, thank you for sharing your concern about your lost shares account and unclaimed dividends on your investments in Zenith Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) from a few years ago.

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane to a familiar place like our local market, where Mama Ngozi sells her ripe tomatoes to her loyal customers. Imagine you had purchased some tomatoes from Mama Ngozi, and for a while, you exchanged those tomatoes for some yams, salt, and other goods in the market.

Now, just like how you kept track of your tomato transactions, you were also receiving dividends on your shares in the past, but lately, those dividends seem to have stopped flowing in. It’s like the usual rush at Mama Ngozi’s stall has dwindled.

To help you retrieve your lost shares account details and claim any outstanding dividends, you can reach out to the stockbroker or registrar who helped you with the initial purchase. They can assist you in verifying your account information and recovering any unclaimed dividends that may be waiting for you. It’s like Mama Ngozi helping you locate your lost purchase records so you can get your due payments.

If you can’t recall the specific stockbroker or registrar you worked with, you may contact Zenith Bank and GTBank directly. They should be able to guide you on the process to retrieve your shares account details and claim your dividends. It’s just like going back to Mama Ngozi’s stall and asking her to remind you of your past transactions.

Remember, it’s important to keep track of your investments just as you would with your precious tomatoes at the market. Stay vigilant, my dear, and with a bit of effort, you’ll soon be reunited with your lost shares account details and those unclaimed dividends will find their way back to you. Best of luck on your financial adventure!

The most reliable way to check your actual shareholding is through your CSCS account, not the bank’s normal banking app.
    1. Check through your CSCS account
Your CSCS account is where your Nigerian listed shares are held electronically.
    You can check:
    Zenith Bank shares
    GTCO shares
Number of shares you currently hold
    Your CSCS account/CHN details
Transaction history and other portfolio information
If you have a CSCS investor portal/login, sign in and look under your portfolio/holdings.
    2. Check through your stockbroker
If you bought the shares through a broker or investment platform, log into the platform and look under Portfolio / Holdings / Investments.
However, the broker’s displayed balance and your CSCS statement are what I’d use to verify the actual registered holdings.
    3. Request a CSCS statement
If you’re unsure whether your shares were properly credited, ask your stockbroker for your CSCS statement of account. This is particularly useful if you have bought shares through different platforms over time.
