How do I correct investment ownership on Afrivest when BVN mismatch changes the account name in Nigeria?

I invested using Afrivest for my son, with his username, name, picture and every necessary details. But because he doesn’t have BVN yet, I used my BVN. That automatically changed the investment to my name. How do I change it back

What happened is expected—on platforms like Afrivest, the BVN is the primary identity key. What happened is expected—on platforms like Afrivest, the BVN is the primary identity key. Once you used your BVN, the system legally treats the investment as yours, regardless of the profile name or picture.

The good news: this can usually be corrected, but it must be done properly and officially.

🔍 Why It Changed to Your Name

    BVN is tied to:

    Your legal identity

    Bank accounts

    KYC (Know Your Customer) compliance

So the platform automatically aligns the account ownership with your BVN

👉 This is a regulatory requirement, not just an app issue.

✅ How to Fix It (Step-by-Step)

Option 1: Wait Until Your Son Has a BVN (Best & Cleanest Method)

This is the most correct approach.

    Steps:

Register your son for BVN (yes, minors can have BVN with a guardian)

    Contact Afrivest support

    Request:

“Change of BVN and account ownership to a minor account”

    Submit required documents:

    Child’s BVN

    Birth certificate

    Parent/guardian ID (yours)

    Possibly a consent/indemnity form

    Option 2: Open a Proper Minor/Trust Account

Some platforms don’t allow direct BVN swap easily.

So they may ask you to:

Create a new account in your son’s name

    Linked to his BVN

    Then transfer the investment

Option 3: Leave It Under Your Name (Temporary Strategy)

If your son is still very young:

Keep it under your name for now

Treat it as a custodial investment

    Later:

    Transfer funds

Or liquidate and reinvest in his name

👉 Many parents use this workaround.

    ⚠️ Important Things to Know

You cannot just edit BVN like a username—it’s tightly regulated

    Any change will require:

    Verification

    Documentation

    Approval from the platform

    🧠 Best Practice Going Forward

When investing for children in Nigeria:

    Always use:

    Child’s BVN (if available)

    Or open:

    Trust account

    Minor investment account

🎯 What I Recommend For You

    Given your situation:

    👉 Do this immediately:

    Contact Afrivest support

    Ask specifically:

“Can I convert this to a minor account or transfer to my son when he gets BVN?”

    👉 Then:

Register BVN for your son as soon as possible

    🔧 If You Want Help

    I can help you:

Draft the exact message to send Afrivest

Or guide you on how to register BVN for a minor in Nigeria step-by-step
