Yes, what your mentor said is generally about CSCS Trade Alert (X-Alert), but there is an important distinction: not receiving an SMS for one of your three purchases does not automatically mean the purchase failed.
CSCS says its X-Alert service sends SMS alerts when a transaction is executed on your CSCS account. Investors subscribe to the service through their stockbroker.
So if you bought 3 different shares on different days and received 2 CSCS SMS alerts, possible explanations include:
The third transaction may not have been executed yet.
Placing an order and actually getting the shares are not necessarily the same thing. A transaction has to be executed before the CSCS trade record is generated.
The third transaction may have been processed differently by your investment broker.
The app may show your purchase even though the CSCS alert hasn’t arrived yet.
There could be an SMS/alert delivery issue.
CSCS describes X-Alert as a notification service, so an SMS not arriving isn’t by itself proof that the underlying transaction didn’t happen.
Check your contract transaction history on the broker app perhaps emails as messages can be received through emails atimes.
A contract note is a much better thing to check for an executed purchase because it records the security, quantity, price and charges for the trade.
The simple way to think about it
You place order → broker executes it → CSCS records/settles it → CSCS X-Alert can notify you.
So don’t panic because you got 2 SMS instead of 3.

Ah, investing in the Nigerian stock market, a topic that many find intriguing! Now, let me break it down in a way our dear Mama Ngozi can relate to.
Imagine you are at the market in Oshodi, trying to buy goods from different sellers. Each time you buy something, you get a receipt showing what you purchased, how much you paid, and the quantity, right? That’s similar to buying shares in a company through an investment app.
In this case, the text messages you received after buying shares are like those receipts. They confirm your purchase of shares in a company, showing you the name of the company, the number of shares you bought, and how much money you used for each purchase.
Now, if you bought 3 shares but only received 2 messages, the issue could be a glitch in the app or a delay in sending the message. It’s essential to keep track of all your investments, so if you have any concerns about missing messages or transactions, it’s wise to reach out to the customer support team of the app for clarification.
Remember, just like in the market, transparency and accuracy are crucial in investing. So, if you notice any discrepancies, it’s best to address them promptly to ensure your investment journey stays on the right track. Cheers to your investment adventures!
