I think the argument has some truth, but it’s not that simple.
If you have N1m and a proven business model, investing in yourself can potentially give you a much higher return than stocks. But assuming a business will consistently make N50k every week for 5 years is unrealistic.
Stocks aren’t only for the wealthy either. They become more valuable as you build surplus capital and want your money working without requiring your time.
For me, it’s not business vs stocks. It’s about timing, knowledge, risk and where that N1m can generate the best risk-adjusted return.
Build your income first, then use your surplus to build assets. Eventually, you want both.
