If you are 35 with no degree, no skill and no connections you have to accept one uncomfortable truth you cannot invest your way because you probably have only time and energy, your first goal would not be buying stocks or crypto it’s to build your earning power.
1. Learn one marketable skill.
Choose something people already pay for—sales, digital marketing, video editing, plumbing, electrical work, welding, bookkeeping, coding, etc.
2. Get paid for the skill.
Don’t spend two years “learning.” Learn, practise, find small jobs and improve through real work.
3. Increase your income.
The first ₦100k you make is more important than worrying about making ₦10m from investments.
4. Control your lifestyle.
As income rises, don’t immediately increase your expenses. Create room between what you earn and what you spend.
5. Build an emergency fund.
Before taking serious investment risks, create a financial cushion.
6. Start buying productive assets.
Once your income is stable, consistently invest part of your surplus in assets you understand.
7. Repeat for years.
At 35, you don’t need to become rich overnight.
You need to become more valuable every year, earn more every year, save more every year and own more productive assets every year.
You may be starting late, but 35 is still young enough to build a completely different financial life over the next 10–20 years.
Start with your income. Then build your assets.
Wealth is not built from where you start. It’s built from what you consistently do after you start.

It depends
don’t make the mistake of increasing your rent simply because you’re unhappy with the current place. First ask yourself
What exactly is causing the unhappiness, and will the new apartment actually solve it? If it will, and you can still save, invest, eat well, handle emergencies and meet your other obligations after paying for it, then move.
If the new apartment genuinely improves your quality of life and the 35,000 CFA covers your total housing/transport cost.
You’re earning 180,000 CFA monthly, so 35,000 CFA is about 19% of your income, which is within a reasonable range.Money is important, but you shouldn’t sacrifice your peace of mind just to save a few thousand CFA.

A very interesting question indeed but personally I think the comparison is fundamentally flawed.
See lessYou cannot compare ₦1 million invested in stocks at 10% with a business that has to produces ₦50,000 profit every week and then conclude that business is the better investment.
That business example is assuming execution, customers, consistent demand, competent management stays the same in five years.
If my business can genuinely turn ₦1m into ₦12m in five years, I will absolutely invest in it. But the question is: can it?
Because businesses don’t produce returns simply because you put money into them. The entrepreneur has to produce the return.
That’s the part people conveniently leave out.
When I buy shares of a profitable company, I’m not “funding someone else’s empire” while my foundation is starving. I’m buying ownership in a business without having to personally run the factory, employ the workers, find customers, manage payroll or deal with daily operational problems.
And there’s another important point:
You don’t have to choose one.
Build your business. Increase your income. Develop your skills. Then use part of the surplus to buy productive assets.
Your business can create the money.
Your investments can compound the money.
Calling stock investing “intellectually lazy” is not true. Probably the real intellectual laziness is assuming every ₦1m put into a business will automatically produce ₦12m.
The smartest investment is not determined by whether it is a business or a stock.
It’s determined by return, risk, your competence, your time, and the opportunity in front of you.
Sometimes the best investment is in your business.
Sometimes it’s in stocks.
And sometimes the smartest decision is simply not to invest until you understand what you’re doing.
Business and investment are both different wealth vehicles
One can say it’s two different legs, your right leg may be stronger than your left leg but to move fast you need both
