Yes. As a beginner in Nigeria, you can invest in FGN Bonds, but there is an important distinction between regular FGN Bonds and FGN Savings Bonds.
    1. The easiest option for a beginner: FGN Savings Bond
The FGN Savings Bond is specifically accessible to retail investors. The DMO currently states that the minimum investment is ₦5,000, with additional units in ₦1,000 increments. You can subscribe directly through the DMO platform or through a distribution agent/stockbroker.

The DMO’s Savings Bond page shows that offers are issued monthly; its September 2026 offer is currently listed there.

    2. How to buy it
    Step 1 — Get a CSCS account
You need a CSCS account for FGN Savings Bonds. If you don’t already have one, the DMO says one can be opened as part of the subscription process.

Step 2 — Check the current DMO offer
Go to the official Debt Management Office (DMO) Savings Bond page and check the current offer for:
    Coupon/interest rate
    Maturity period
    Opening and closing dates
    Minimum investment
    Payment instructions
Step 3 — Decide how much to invest
For example, if you have ₦100,000, you could subscribe for ₦100,000 of FGN Savings Bond.
Step 4 — Submit your subscription
You can use the DMO’s subscription platform or an authorized distribution agent/stockbroker.
    subscribedmo.dmo.gov.ng
Step 5 — Receive your interest
FGN Savings Bond interest is paid quarterly, according to the DMO’s investor information.
