How Can I Resolve CSCS and CHN Issues When Using Different Investment Apps in Nigeria?

I downloaded the invest naija app but can’t invest without CSCS and CHN. I tried using the same CSCS and CHN I have on my Bamboo account but it’s not working. What do I do?

Here’s the core reason your Bamboo CSCS/CHN isn’t working directly on InvestNaija — and the clear steps to fix it:

    📌 Why the Bamboo CSCS/CHN isn’t working

Each brokerage issues its own CSCS/CHN linkage.

Even if Bamboo gave you a CSCS and CHN, that number is tied to Bamboo’s brokerage account infrastructure — not directly to every other broker. When you sign up with InvestNaija (Chapel Hill Denham), that platform creates its own brokerage relationship and CSCS/CHN linkage for you, meaning your Bamboo CSCS/CHN usually can’t be reused as-is for InvestNaija.

    Facebook

InvestNaija will generate a new CSCS/CHN for you.

According to InvestNaija support responses seen in community threads, if you already have a CSCS/CHN from another provider, InvestNaija still issues a new one under its brokerage setup once your brokerage account is activated.

    Facebook

🧾 What CSCS & CHN actually are

CSCS — Central Securities Clearing System account: your electronic depository profile where Nigerian securities are held.

CHN (Clearing House Number) — a unique investor ID within CSCS, used by brokers to track your assets in the Nigerian capital market.

    CSCS Plc

Because CSCS accounts must be tied to a specific brokerage relationship, you can’t simply import another broker’s CSCS/CHN into a new broker’s system.

✅ What you should do next

    1. Complete InvestNaija account setup fully

    Ensure you:

Complete the signup steps in the app.

Provide all KYC information (BVN, ID, address, etc.).

Only after that will the app trigger the CSCS/CHN creation process on their backend.

    2. Wait for InvestNaija to generate your CHN

Once your account is approved and verified by InvestNaija/Chapel Hill Denham, they will assign you a new CSCS and CHN tied to their brokerage licence.

    3. Contact InvestNaija support if it stalls

If it doesn’t happen or if you hit errors like “address required” after entering your info, contact support through the app or the official support channels — they can see your application status and push the CSCS/CHN activation.

    🔄 Why this must happen

The Nigerian stock market regulator (SEC/NGX) and CSCS require that a licensed stockbroker initiate the CSCS account creation for you. Even if you have one already, a broker typically either reuses it through a transfer or issues a new one under its own member code.

    Facebook

Your Bamboo CSCS/CHN won’t work directly on InvestNaija. You need to finish onboarding on InvestNaija so they can create a new CSCS/CHN for you. Once that is active, you’ll be able to invest through the app.
