What you’re seeing is common, and it usually comes down to how Money Market Mutual Funds (MMFs) update balances in Nigeria—they don’t behave like a normal wallet.
Let’s go straight to how to verify it properly.
    1. How MMF funding actually works (important)
When you top up a Money Market Fund via apps like:
    Cowrywise
    InvestNaija
Your money does NOT reflect instantly.
    Instead:
    You initiate funding (Day T)
    Payment is received
    Fund manager processes it
    Units are allocated to you
👉 This usually takes T+1 or T+2 working days
    2. Why your balance is still the same
If your balance hasn’t changed, it’s usually one of these:
    A. It’s still processing (MOST COMMON)
    You funded recently
    Units not yet allocated
👉 Your old balance remains until processing completes
    B. Payment not yet confirmed
    Bank transfer delay
Debit successful but not received by fund
    C. You’re checking the wrong section
    Some apps separate:
    Wallet / Cash balance
    Investment (MMF units)
    D. Transaction failed silently
    Rare, but possible
    Especially with network/payment issues
    3. How to CONFIRM your MMF funding (step-by-step)
    ✅ Method 1 — Check transaction history
    Inside your app:
    Look for:
    “Pending”
    “Processing”
    “Successful”
👉 If it shows pending, your money is still being processed
✅ Method 2 — Check units, not just naira value
    MMFs work like this:
    You buy units
Your balance = units × price per unit
    So check:
    Did your units increase?
👉 If units increased → your funding is successful (even if value hasn’t updated much yet)
    ✅ Method 3 — Look for confirmation message/email
    You should receive:
    Email
    In-app notification
    Something like:
“Your investment has been successfully processed”
✅ Method 4 — Wait full processing window
    In Nigeria MMFs:
Same day funding → shows next working day
Weekend funding → shows Monday or Tuesday
    4. When you should be concerned
    Take action if:
It’s been more than 2–3 working days
    No transaction record exists
    No confirmation message
Balance AND units did not change
    5. What to do if it’s delayed
    Step 1
    Confirm:
    Your bank was actually debited
    Step 2
    Check:
    Transaction ID / reference
    Step 3
    Contact support of your platform:
    Cowrywise / InvestNaija support
    Provide:
    Amount
    Date
    Payment reference
    6. Important thing beginners miss
    MMF is NOT like:
    Bank account (instant balance update)
It’s: 👉 A fund investment with processing + unit allocation
    7. Quick checklist for you
    Ask yourself:
Did I fund today or yesterday? → wait
Is it weekend? → wait till weekday
Do I see “pending”? → processing
Did my units increase? → successful
    Bottom line
    If your balance hasn’t changed:
Most likely → still processing (normal)
Not a loss, not missing money
But if after 2–3 working days nothing changes,
👉 then escalate to support immediately
