The registrar’s reply is normal and legitimate. They are simply asking you to prove ownership of your shares before issuing the e-mandate form.

    Here’s what their message means:

“Dear valued shareholder, your mail is well received, copy of your CSCS statement to proceed with your request.”

What They Are Asking From You

    They want you to send:

    Your CSCS Statement

    This is a document showing:

    Your name

    Your CSCS number

    The shares you own

    Your stockbroker details

    This helps them confirm that:

    You are the real shareholder

They are sending the e-mandate to the correct person

How to Get Your CSCS Statement

    You can get it from:

    Option 1 (Best & Fastest)

    Contact your stockbroker and request:

“Please send me my latest CSCS statement”

    They usually send it within:

    Few minutes

    Or same day

    Option 2

Login to your broker portal (if available):

    InvestNaija

    Afrinvest

    Meristem

    ARM Securities

    etc.

    Download your CSCS statement

    What To Reply To Them

    You can reply like this:

    Email

    Subject

Request for E-Mandate Form – CSCS Statement Attached

    Dear Sir/Ma,

    Thank you for your response.

Please find attached a copy of my CSCS statement as requested to enable you proceed with my request for the e-mandate form.

Kindly confirm receipt and advise on the next steps.

    Thank you.

    Best regards

    [Your Name]

    Important Tip (Very Important)

    Make sure:

Your name on CSCS matches your bank account name

    Your email is correct

    Your phone number is correct

This helps avoid dividend payment delays.

You’re doing the right thing by setting up e-mandate early.

Many investors delay this and later struggle to receive dividends.

    They are not stressing you.

✓ They are trying to verify ownership of your shares

    Your CSCS statement comes from:

    Central Securities Clearing System

    It shows:

    • the shares you own
    • your CHN (Clearing House Number)
    • your personal details

    Think of it as:

✓ proof that the shares belong to you

Why the Registrar Is Asking for It

    Let’s be very clear.

Before they activate e-dividend, they must confirm:

✓ you are the real owner
✓ the shares are correctly linked to you

So they request your CSCS statement to:

    • match your name
    • confirm your CHN
    • avoid errors or fraud

Let Me Explain With a Simple Example So You Would Understand Better

Imagine someone walks into a bank and says:

“I want money from this account.”

Will the bank just give it?

    No.

    They will ask for:

    ✓ proof of ownership

That’s exactly what the registrar is doing.

    What You Should Do Now

Step 1: Get Your CSCS Statement

    You can get it from:

    • your stockbroker (like InvestNaija)
    • your trading platform
    • or directly if you have CSCS access

    Step 2: Check It Properly

    Make sure:

    • your name is correct
    • your CHN is visible
    • your shareholdings are listed

Step 3: Send It to the Registrar

    Reply to:

    Veritas Registrars Limited

    Attach:

    ✓ your CSCS statement

Let Me Be Honest With You

This step is actually protecting you from:

    • wrong dividend payments
    • missing records
    • future issues

    Final Truth

The registrar is not delaying you.

    ✓ They are validating you.

Let Me Leave You With This

In investing, small verification steps like this…

are what prevent big problems later.

    So instead of asking:

    • “Why are they stressing me?”

    Ask:

✓ “Is my record properly set up?”

Because once this is done correctly…

✓ your dividends will flow smoothly without issues.
