An ESG Impact Fund is an investment fund that aims to generate financial returns while investing in activities or companies that meet environmental, social and governance (ESG) objectives.

In simple terms:

E — Environmental: areas such as clean energy, waste management, water, pollution reduction or climate-related solutions.

S — Social: areas such as employment, healthcare, education, inclusion or community development.

G — Governance: how responsibly and transparently companies are managed, including ethics, accountability and shareholder rights.

The important point is that ESG does not mean “guaranteed high returns.” The fund still carries investment risk, and different ESG funds can have very different strategies and portfolios.
