You can buy FGN Bonds (Federal Government of Nigeria Bonds) through both banks and investment apps—but not directly like regular shopping or savings accounts.
    Here’s the clear breakdown:
    1. Where you can buy FGN Bonds
    A. Banks (Very common and reliable)
You can buy through the investment/wealth management desk of banks, especially:
    GTBank (via wealth management)
    Zenith Bank
    First Bank
    Access Bank
    Stanbic IBTC
    UBA
    How it works in banks:
You go to the bank (or contact your relationship manager)
Ask for FGN Bonds / Government Securities desk
They place the order for you during bond issuance or secondary market
    ✔ Safe
    ✔ Guided process
❌ Usually higher minimum investment for regular bonds
    B. Licensed Stockbrokers (MOST IMPORTANT CHANNEL)
FGN Bonds are officially sold through licensed stockbrokers approved by the Debt Management Office (DMO).
    Examples include:
    Afrinvest
    ARM Securities
    Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers
    Meristem
    Cordros Capital
    How it works:
Open a CSCS account (your investment holding account)
    Fund your account
Your broker subscribes for FGN bonds on your behalf
✔ Official channel for primary market
✔ Access to auctions and secondary market
✔ Can invest from lower amounts (especially savings bond type)
    C. Investment Apps (Easiest for beginners)
Apps that allow FGN bond investment:
    Bamboo
    Chaka
Risevest (limited bond exposure depending on product)
    Meristem App
    ARM Engage
    These apps usually:
    Link you to licensed brokers
Let you buy government securities in smaller portions
    ✔ Very easy
    ✔ Mobile-based
❌ Not all apps show full bond offerings all the time
    D. Direct government issuance (DMO auctions)
    This is the “wholesale” method:
Done monthly by the Debt Management Office (DMO)
You must go through a Primary Dealer Market Maker (bank or broker)
    ✔ Best rates
❌ Not practical for beginners (high minimums like ₦50 million for some bonds)
    2. Important clarification (many people confuse this)
    There are TWO main types:
    1. FGN Savings Bond (Retail)
    Minimum: about ₦5,000
    Bought via brokers/apps
    Designed for ordinary investors
    2. Regular FGN Bonds
Minimum: often ₦50 million in primary market
    Mostly for institutions/high-net-worth investors
    3. Simple answer to your question
    Yes—you can buy FGN Bonds:
    Through banks (wealth desk)
    Through licensed stockbrokers
Through investment apps linked to brokers
But the MOST common and easiest route today is: 👉 Stockbroker or investment app
    4. If you are starting out (important advice)
Since you’re still building your investment knowledge:
Start with FGN Savings Bond or Money Market Funds first
Then move into full FGN Bonds later
