Since you already have your Tax ID and Payer ID, filing on your smartphone is actually very fast. Because the Lagos (LIRS) deadline was extended to April 14, 2026, you have plenty of time to finish this in under 10 minutes.

Follow these simplified steps on your mobile browser (Chrome or Safari recommended):

    Step-by-Step Mobile Filing

    1. Access the Portal
Open etax.lirs.net(https://etax.lirs.net/) on your phone. Tap the Login button at the top right.

    2. Sign In
Enter your Payer ID (the one starting with N-) and your password.

    • If it’s your first time: Tap “Forgot Password” or “Reset” to create a new one using your registered email/phone.

    3. Start the Filing
Once on your dashboard, tap the Menu icon (usually three horizontal lines ☰) and select “Returns”, then tap “File Annual Return.”

    4. Select the Year
Choose 2025 (since you are filing for the previous year’s income in 2026).

    5. Input Your Earnings

    • If you have a job: Enter your total annual salary, allowances, and bonuses from your 2025 payslips.
    • If you are self-employed: Enter your total business income/profit for the year.
    • Reliefs: Input your Pension, NHF, or Life Insurance totals to reduce your tax.

    6. Review & Submit
The system will automatically calculate your tax. If everything looks correct, tap “Submit.” 7. Save Your Proof
Immediately download the Acknowledgment Slip (PDF). This is your digital proof that you have filed.

    Quick Smartphone Tips

    • Desktop Site Mode: If the buttons look too small or cut off, tap your browser settings (the three dots on Chrome) and select “Desktop Site.” This makes the portal easier to navigate.
    • Screenshot Everything: Take screenshots of your confirmation pages just in case your internet fluctuates during submission.
    • No VPN: Ensure any VPN is turned OFF, as the LIRS portal often blocks foreign IP addresses for security.

    Goodluck!

Do I Pay Both Personal Income Tax and Company Income Tax in Nigeria If I Own a Limited Liability Company?

Of course, you must file them separately. Legally, a Limited Liability Company is a “person” distinct from you, its owner. Therefore, you both have separate tax obligations.

    The Dual-Filing System

Feature,                   Personal Income Tax (PIT),            Company Income Tax (CIT)
Who it’s for,               You (the individual/Director),                 Your Company (the business                                                                                                                    entity)
Tax Authority,           “State IRS (e.g., LIRS for Lagos)”,           FIRS (Federal level)
Income Source,         Your salary, allowances, or dividends,    Business profits and revenue
Governing Law,        Personal Income Tax Act (PITA),             Companies Income Tax Act                                                                                                                        (CITA)

    Key Rules to Remember

    • Separate Wallets: If your company earns ₦1M and pays you a ₦100,000 salary, the company is taxed on its earnings at the FIRS, and you are taxed on your salary at the State IRS.
    • Zero Profit ≠ Zero Filing: Even if your company made no money this year, you must still file a “Nil Return” with the FIRS to avoid heavy penalties.
    • Different Deadlines:
    • *        Personal: Usually due by March 31st.
    •          Company: Usually due within 6 months of the company’s financial year-end.

    Why this distinction matters

    • No “Double Counting”: Your salary is a “deductible expense” for the company. This means the company doesn’t pay tax on the ₦100,000 it gave you; instead, you pay the tax on that portion as an individual.
    • Legal Protection: Keeping these filings separate maintains your “Corporate Veil.” If you treat the company’s money as your personal pocket and fail to file separately, you risk losing the legal protection that a Limited Liability Company provides.

    The “Golden Rule”
Even if you are the only person in the company, you must still wear two hats:

    • The Director: Filing for the company at the FIRS.
    • The Individual: Filing for yourself at the State IRS.

    The Bottom Line
Because a Limited Liability Company is a separate legal entity, “mixing” these taxes is a major compliance error. You must file Personal Income Tax where you live and Company Income Tax at the federal level.

    Goodluck!

Filing your Personal Income Tax in Osun State is straightforward, whether you prefer using the digital portal or visiting an office in person. Since the standard March 31st deadline has just passed, you should act quickly to remain compliant.

Here is the easiest way to get it done:

    1. Identify Your Tax Category

    • Direct Assessment: Use this if you are self-employed, a trader, or a freelancer. You calculate your own tax based on your annual profit.
    • PAYE: If you are a salary earner, your employer usually deducts this, but you still need to file an “Annual Return” to confirm your total income.

    2. The Online Method (Fastest)

    • Visit the Portal: Go to the Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS) https://irs.os.gov.ng/ website.
    • Get your TIN: If you don’t have a Taxpayer ID, register on the portal using your NIN and personal details.
    • File Returns: Select the “Annual Returns” or “Direct Assessment” form. Input your total income for 2025 and any allowable expenses/reliefs.
    • Pay & Receipt: Pay the assessed amount via the online gateway (Remita/Webpay). Download and print your Automated Revenue Receipt immediately.

    3. The Physical Method (Best for Beginners)
If you find the portal confusing, walk into any OIRS Tax Station (Abere-Osogbo, Ife, Ilesa, or Ede).

    • Tell the officer: “I want to file my Personal Income Tax returns.”
    • They will provide Form A, help you calculate the amount, and guide you to a designated bank for payment.

    Checklist for a Smooth Filing

    • NIN & Phone Number: Essential for registration.
    • Income Summary: Have a rough total of what you earned from January to December last year.
    • Reliefs: Note down your Pension or Life Insurance contributions to reduce your tax.

     Why do it now?
Filing your taxes is the first step toward getting a Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC), which is mandatory in Osun State for government transactions, land titling, and school admissions.

Are you currently running a business in Osun, or are you filing based on your salary?

    Goodluck!

What Should I File for Personal Income Tax in Nigeria If I Have Never Paid Tax Before?

If you have never paid tax before, what you file depends entirely on whether you earned any money last year. If you have never paid tax before, what you file depends entirely on whether you earned any money last year. Since the tax year being reported is the previous one (2025), here is how to handle it:

    1. If you had NO income in 2025
If you were unemployed, a student, or simply didn’t earn anything last year, you file a “Nil Return” (also called a Zero Return).

    • What it means: you are formally telling the government, “I lived here, but I earned ₦0.”
    • Why do it? It builds your tax history and protects you from being penalized later for “missing” a year.

    2. If you just got a job in 2026
Even if you are working now, your annual return is for last year.

    • Action: File a Nil Return for 2025.
    • Next Year: In 2027, you will file a full return based on the salary you are earning right now.

    3. If you earned money but didn’t pay tax
If you were a freelancer, trader, or had a side hustle in 2025 but never registered for tax:

    • Action: You must declare that income now.
    • Process: Register for a TIN (Tax ID), state how much you made, and the tax office will calculate what you owe. This is called Direct Assessment.

    Summary Table

Your Situation in 2025 ,                                        What to File
Unemployed / No Income,                                 Nil Return (₦0)
New Job (Started in 2026),                                Nil Return (for 2025)
Had Business/Freelance Income,                     Full Return (Declare all earnings)

The Bottom Line: Not having a tax history isn’t a problem. If you earned nothing, file “Nil.” If you earned something, declare it now to avoid a “Tax Default” penalty later.

    Goodluck!

Should I File My Personal Income Tax in Lagos or Osun State If I Live and Work in Lagos Nigeria?

The answer is simple: You file where you live and work, not where you are from. In Nigeria, Personal Income Tax (PIT) is based on Residency. The answer is simple: You file where you live and work, not where you are from.

In Nigeria, Personal Income Tax (PIT) is based on Residency. Because you currently reside and earn your income in Lagos, your tax obligation is to the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), not Osun State.

    Why Lagos and Not Osun?

    • The Law: The Personal Income Tax Act states that tax follows the individual’s place of residence.
    • The Rule of Thumb: If you spent more than 183 days of the year in Lagos, Lagos is your “Tax Home.”
    • State of Origin: This is only used for cultural or statistical purposes; it has no impact on where you pay your monthly or annual income tax.

    About the Extension (Good News!)
You are absolutely correct. The LIRS has extended the 2026 deadline to April 14th.

Since today is April 1st, you have exactly two weeks left to complete your filing. This extension is a great window to:

    1. Gather your 2025 income records.
    2. Log onto the eTax Lagos portal https://etax.lirs.net/.
    3. Submit your annual returns without facing late-filing penalties.

    Your Next Steps

    1. Ignore Osun State for this specific filing.
    2. Log in to LIRS eTax using your Payer ID or NIN.
    3. Declare your 2025 earnings and submit before the new April 14th cutoff.

Are you an employee with a salary, or are you filing as a business owner/freelancer?

    Goodluck!

Filing your taxes in Delta State has become much easier with the Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS) self-service portal, meaning you can handle everything from registration to payment online. Here is the streamlined way to get it done on the new platform.

    1. Get Your Delta Payer ID (S-TIN)
Before filing, you must be registered in the Delta State tax system.

    • Visit the Portal: Go to the https://selfservice.deltairs.com/
    • Sign Up: Click on “Register” or “Create Account.”
    • Details: Enter your NIN, name, and contact info. Once completed, you will receive your unique Payer ID (S-TIN).

    2. Login and Declare Income

    • Access Dashboard: Log in using your new Payer ID and password.
    • File Returns: Look for the “Annual Returns” or “File Tax” button on your dashboard.
    • Input Figures: Enter your total income earned from January to December of the previous year. If you are a business owner, subtract your business expenses (fuel, rent, etc.) to get your net profit.

    3. Assessment and Payment

    • Automatic Calculation: The platform will automatically calculate how much tax you owe based on the figures you provided.
    • Generate Assessment: Review the “Assessment Notice” generated by the system.
    • Pay Online: Use the integrated payment gateway (Remita or Interswitch) to pay via your ATM card or bank transfer.

    4. Download Your Receipt

    • Once payment is confirmed, the system will generate a Government Revenue Receipt.
    • Keep this safe: This receipt is your proof of filing and is required if you ever need a Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) for a visa or loan.

    Why use the new platform?

    • No Queues: You don’t need to visit a physical tax office.
    • Transparency: You can see exactly how your tax is calculated.
    • TCC: Filing through the portal makes it much easier to apply for a Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) later, which you’ll need for visas or government contracts.

3 Fast Tips for Delta Taxpayers

    • Deadline: For individuals/business owners, the annual deadline is March 31st. (Since today is April 1st, you should file immediately to minimize late penalties).
    • NIN is Key: Ensure the name on your tax profile matches your NIN to avoid verification issues.
    • Support: If the portal glitches, you can visit any DSIRS office in Asaba, Warri, or other major towns for manual assistance.

    Goodluck!
