If you sell after qualifying for dividends how will the company know how many shares you have a why would they pay you after you no longer have a share in the company

So How do you know that you are qualified for dividends? Do you receive a text from the company notifying you? or you just wait for the payment date ?
Please I would like to see Qualification date and Payment date of some of the companies that have approved their date. Thanks.
