Yes, you can still recover your shares and any unpaid dividends, even after 15 years. In Nigeria, shares are recorded electronically through the registrar and the shareholder register, so losing your physical documents does not necessarily mean you’ve lost your investment.
Here is what you should do:
    1. Contact the Registrar
For shares of Fidelity Bank Plc, the registrar maintains the official shareholder records. You should contact the bank’s registrar and provide:
Your full name (exactly as used when buying the shares)
    Previous addresses used during registration
    Approximate year of purchase
Any phone numbers or email addresses that may have been used
A valid means of identification (National ID, Voter’s Card, International Passport, or Driver’s Licence)
The registrar can search their records and confirm whether the shares are still in your name.
    2. Request a Shareholding Statement
    Ask the registrar for:
    Current share balance
    Shareholder account details
CSCS status (if the shares have been dematerialized)
    Outstanding dividends
    3. Recover Unclaimed Dividends
If dividends were declared but never paid, they may be sitting as unclaimed dividends.
    You may be required to:
    Complete an e-dividend registration form
    Submit bank account details
    Provide identification documents
    Submit a signature verification form
Once processed, outstanding dividends may be credited to your bank account, subject to applicable rules and timelines.
    4. Check the Unclaimed Dividend Portal
You can also search through the official Nigerian unclaimed dividend system managed by the market authorities:
    sec.gov.ng
    5. If You Cannot Remember the Registrar
Contact fidelitybank.ng Investor Relations or customer service. They can direct you to the current registrar handling their shareholders’ records.
    Important
Do not pay anyone claiming they can recover the shares for a fee before you verify your ownership with the registrar. Recovery of lost share records is a routine process, and the registrar is the proper channel.
    If you tell me:
Approximately how many shares you bought,
Whether they were bought directly during a public offer or through a stockbroker,
And whether you still have the original bank account used at the time,
I can explain the exact recovery process likely to apply in your case.

Few years after I bought the shares my other address was contacted through letter advising that I buy more shares with them but no dividend ever came. Even that letter I can’t trace it now. Thanks 🙏
